The Institute of Organic Chemistry (OCI) belongs to the Faculty of Mathematics and Science MNF, one of seven faculties at the University of Zurich. The OCI affiliates to the “Fachbereich” Chemistry- Biochemistry, one of four “Fachbereiche”, or departments in the MNF. Research topics carried out in the OCI include the following areas:

Prof. Heinz Heimgartner received Doctor Honoris Causa

The Institute of Organic Chemistry is proud to announce that Prof. Heinz Heimgartner on May 25 2009, he received the "Doctor Honoris Causa" at the 64th Jubilee of the University of Lodz, Poland. "In recognition of the outstanding achievements in the field of heterocyclic chemistry and contributions to the synthesis and conformation of peptides and the personal commitment to the development of the cooperation between Polish and Swiss scientific centers, specially between the University of Lodz and the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the University of Zurich."
